Child rights mainstreaming into human rights treaty bodies

OMCT reinforces the prevention and monitoring of torture through the strengthening of the capacity of national NGOs in the use of the United Nations conventional mechanisms and mainstreaming women’s and children’s issues in general human rights mechanisms. This is done through the submission of alternative reports to the UN Committee Against Torture and the Human Rights Committee, the support for individuals and organizations wishing to challenge torture practices in international legal fora by presenting individual complaints to these Committees, and the publication of a practical guide on international and regional conventional mechanisms and torture. In all these activities, questions relating to the protection of children from torture and other ill-treatment are integrated. • Prevention of Torture project
