Urgent campaigns
“Urgent Campaigns” has been one of OMCT’s principal activities since its founding. Its objective is to respond as quickly as possible to reports of grave human rights violations, in particular torture and ill-treatment, forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, received from members of the SOS-Torture Network and other partner organisations. By monitoring situations and anticipating events, “Urgent Campaigns” seeks to protect victims from further abuse, as well as to pressure governments to respect international human rights norms and prosecute the alleged perpetrators of the violations.
